Database में कुछ database cost तथा risk factors होते है जो हमें पता होने चाहिए तो चलिए इन्हें पढ़ते है;

1:- new specialized personnel:- किसी भी organization में डेटाबेस को design तथा implement करने के लिए नए नए कर्मचारियों (personnel) की जरुरत होती है. इन कर्मचारियों को train तथा hire करना पड़ता है तथा organisation को specialized कर्मचारियों की भी आवश्यकता होती है.
तो इन कर्मचारियों को hire करना बहुत ही expensive होता है परन्तु इन्हें hire करना बहुत जरुरी होता है.
2:- installation and management cost and complexity:- एक multi user DBMS बहुत ही large तथा complex सॉफ्टवेयर होता है जिसकी cost बहुत ही अधिक होती है. इसको install तथा operate करने के लिए highly skilled कर्मचारी की आवश्यकता होती है. तथा इसकी maintenance costs भी बहुत ज्यादा होती है.
ऐसे DBMS सॉफ्टवेयर को install करने के लिए hardware सिस्टम को भी upgrade करना पड़ता है.
3:- conversion costs:- organisation में कुछ पुराने सिस्टम होते है उन्हें modern डेटाबेस टेक्नोलॉजी में convert करना पड़ता है. इन्हें convert करने की cost बहुत ज्यादा होती है.
4:- need for explicit backup and recovery:- कभी कभी database में किसी error की वजह से डेटाबेस damage या नष्ट हो जाता है तो इस स्थिति में हमें डेटाबेस का backup लेने की आवश्यकता होती है. जिससे की डेटाबेस की सारीं files को recover किया जा सकें.
5:- organisational conflicts:- डेटाबेस में data को accurate तथा updated होना चाहिए तथा डेटाबेस में data definition, data format, तथा coding के issues होते है जिनसे conflicts उत्पन्न होते है.
तथा इन सभी issues को handle करने के लिए organisation commitment की आवश्यकता होती है.
