instruction code, बिट्स (bits) का एक समूह होता है जो कि कंप्यूटर को एक विशिष्ट (specific) कार्य करने के लिए निर्देश देता है.
instruction code भागों में विभाजित होता है और प्रत्येक part का अपना एक interpretation (अर्थ) होता है.
इसके parts है:- 1:- operation code 2:- operands.
इसका जो सबसे basic part होता है वह है operation code.
Operation code
किसी instruction का operation code (OpCode), बिट्स (bits) का एक समूह होता है जो कि प्रत्येक operation जैसे:- जोड़ना, घटाना, गुणा करना, और complement करना आदि को define करता है.
operation code को कितने bits की जरूरत है यह इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि कंप्यूटर में कुल कितने operations उपलब्ध है.
operation code को दिए गये 2^n operations के लिए कम से कम n bits अवश्य contain करने होते है.
माना हमारे पास 64 (2<sup>6</sup>) operations है तो OpCode की length 6 होगी.
कंट्रोल यूनिट OpCode को decode करती है और जरुरी operation को पूरा करती है.
operands
मैमोरी या processor register में store हुए data में operation अवश्य perform होता है. प्रत्येक computer का अपना एक instruction code format होता है.
computer को organize करने का सबसे आसान तरीका है कि इसमें instruction code format दो भागों में divide होना चाहिए.
पहला भाग operation को perform करता है और दूसरा भाग address को specify करता है.
instruction code formats
सामन्य computer के तीन instruction code formats होते है.
- memory – reference instruction
- register – reference instruction
- input – output operation
memory – reference instruction
एक memory- reference instruction जो है वह address को specify करने के लिए 12 bits का प्रयोग करता है. और एक bit का प्रयोग addressing mode को specify करने के लिए करता है.
register – reference instruction
register – reference instruction को OpCode 111 (instruction के 0 leftmost bit के साथ) recognize किया जाता है. इसमें memory से operand की जरूरत नहीं पड़ती है इसलिए अन्य 12 बिट्स execute होने वाले operation को specify करते है.
input – output instruction
input – output instruction को OpCode 111 (instruction के 1 leftmost bit के साथ) recognize किया जाता है.
इसमें बची हुई 12 bits का प्रयोग input – output operations को specify करने के लिए किया जाता है.
format of instruction
instruction format के basic fields को नीचे दिया गया है:-
1:- operation code field- यह perform होने वाले operation को specify करता है.
2:- address field- यह memory address या register को allocate करता है.
3:- mod field- यह operand को निर्धारित करने के तरीके को specify करता है.
